Archiving Policy

IJCESEN maintains an electronic archive of all published articles to ensure permanent access to the scholarly record.

Published articles remain available through the journal website after publication.

The journal supports the use of recognized archiving solutions to preserve published content and ensure accessibility in case of website or platform changes.

Authors and readers should be able to access the published scientific record without unnecessary barriers.

The journal continuously works to improve the reliability and sustainability of its archival system.

IJCESEN is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, integrity, discoverability, and continued accessibility of its published scholarly content. The journal employs digital preservation and metadata distribution mechanisms designed to protect the scholarly record against technological failure, platform changes, accidental data loss, discontinuation of publication, and other circumstances that may affect access to published content.

1. Long-Term Digital Preservation

IJCESEN aims to ensure that published articles and associated bibliographic information remain preserved independently of the continuing availability of the journal's primary website.

For this purpose, the journal uses recognized digital preservation infrastructures and preservation mechanisms, including PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), LOCKSS, and CLOCKSS, where applicable and active for the journal.

These preservation systems are intended to maintain distributed and redundant copies of scholarly content and thereby reduce the risk of permanent loss resulting from server failure, technological obsolescence, data corruption, accidental deletion, organizational change, or other disruptions.

Digital preservation should be understood as a process that is distinct from ordinary website backup. While local backups assist with operational recovery, preservation networks provide an additional layer of long-term protection for the scholarly record.

2. Continuity of Access

The journal is committed to maintaining access to its published scholarly record over the long term.

Where content is preserved through an external preservation network, preserved copies may provide a mechanism for continued or restored access if the journal website becomes permanently unavailable, the publisher ceases operations, a journal title is discontinued without a successor, or another qualifying preservation event occurs, subject to the rules and procedures of the relevant preservation service.

The purpose of this arrangement is to ensure that previously published scholarly content does not depend exclusively on the continued operation of a single website, server, institution, or publishing organization.

3. LOCKSS and CLOCKSS Preservation

Where activated for the journal, LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) supports distributed digital preservation by maintaining copies of scholarly content across participating preservation environments.

CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) provides an additional long-term preservation mechanism. Content preserved in CLOCKSS is maintained in a secure archival environment and may be made publicly accessible following a qualifying trigger event in accordance with CLOCKSS policies.

Such trigger events may include circumstances in which a publisher permanently ceases operations, a journal title is no longer available from any publisher, back issues are permanently withdrawn from access, or catastrophic technical failure results in permanent loss of access.

The use of distributed preservation systems strengthens the resilience and continuity of the journal's scholarly record.

4. PKP Preservation Network

Where the journal meets the applicable eligibility and technical requirements and the service is active, the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) provides an additional preservation mechanism for content published through Open Journal Systems (OJS).

The purpose of participation in such a preservation network is to ensure that scholarly content remains preserved in multiple locations rather than relying solely on the journal's primary hosting infrastructure.

5. Metadata Distribution and OAI-PMH

IJCESEN supports the dissemination and interoperability of article-level bibliographic metadata through mechanisms provided by its publishing platform.

The journal's OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interface enables compatible indexing services, library systems, repositories, aggregators, and other scholarly information services to harvest bibliographic metadata from the journal.

OAI-PMH should not be considered a digital preservation system itself. Its primary purpose is to facilitate the structured exchange, harvesting, discovery, and reuse of metadata.

Through metadata interoperability, the journal seeks to improve the discoverability and visibility of its publications across scholarly databases, library discovery systems, repositories, and other academic information services.

6. Persistent Identification and Scholarly Record

Published articles are assigned persistent identifiers, including Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), where applicable.

Persistent identifiers, complete bibliographic metadata, publication information, and links to the official article record are maintained to support reliable citation, identification, discovery, and linking of published scholarly content.

Changes to the journal website or publishing platform should not alter the identity of the scholarly Version of Record or the bibliographic information required for its citation.

7. Integrity of the Published Record

The journal is committed to preserving the integrity and authenticity of the scholarly Version of Record.

Corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or other post-publication notices are handled transparently and, where applicable, linked to the original publication so that the history and current status of the scholarly record can be understood by readers and indexing services.

Digital preservation does not imply that incorrect or retracted content is removed from the scholarly record. Instead, appropriate notices and links are maintained to preserve the transparency and integrity of the publication history.

8. Permanent Accessibility

The journal's preservation strategy is designed to reduce dependence on a single technical platform and to support the long-term availability of published scholarly content.

The journal therefore combines its primary publishing infrastructure with external preservation mechanisms, persistent identifiers, metadata interoperability, and appropriate backup procedures in order to enhance the durability and accessibility of its publications.

9. Relationship with the Self-Archiving Policy

This policy concerns the journal's responsibility for the preservation, continuity, accessibility, and metadata distribution of its published scholarly content. Author self-archiving is governed separately by the journal's Self-Archiving Policy.

The Self-Archiving Policy defines which manuscript versions authors may deposit or share, where those versions may be deposited, and whether an embargo period applies.
